DVIDA ( Dance Vision International Dance Association ) publishes a written manual containing its syllabus. A syllabus is an outline of a course of study which can lead to an examination of proficiency. In this case, the DVIDA Syllabus contains an outline of dance steps and movements that that the Dance Vision International Dance Association feels are important. The different manuals are divided into Bronze, Silver and Gold depending on the difficulty of the steps and they are also divided into dance types (american style rhythm, american style smooth, international style smooth, and international style latin)
Many dance studios use the DVIDA syllabus to train and certify their dance instructors. I have personally seen dance instructors training new instructors with these manuals. The syllabus keeps instructors all over the world on the same page with regard to dance.
